Monday: Flow 6-6:55 am
Tuesday: Slow Flow 5-6 pm
Wednesday: Flow 6-6:55 am
Thursday: Slow Flow 5-6 pm
Friday: no yoga on Friday this week
Saturday: Mixed Flow 9-10 am
Sunday: Slow, with Restorative 9-10 am
Slow Flow classes have a longer centering and hold poses longer in order to connect with the breath. If you want to use a pillow/block or a blanket, feel free to have those nearby.
Flow classes will follow the same general flow as Slow Flow classes, but will be a little bit faster paced as well as incorporate Sun Salutation B and a shorter centering/savasana.
Mixed Flow classes will depend on the intention of the class. Some classes might be faster with Sun Salute B x1-3, others might be slower. There will always be the opportunity to modify.
Yin classes are designed to release deeply held tension. Yin is comparable to Restorative in that poses are held for long periods of time. It is different in that props are not exclusively used and is an active rather than passive class.
Slow, with Restorative classes are designed for relaxation. A great start to the last day of the weekend. Allowing your mind to rest, as well as the body, and emerging restored and ready to face the day. This class will include Sun Salute A, but we will spend much longer on centering, savasana, and in poses, instead of flowing. (Very helpful to have props: blanket, blocks, bolsters ... or lots of pillows.)
*Reminder that for anyone who doesn't have yoga props and wants to borrow - I am happy to lend to you.*
Online classes are always going to be donation-based. This yoga is as much for me as it is for you! If you have a friend looking for classes, please feel free to pass this info on to them, but let me know. Otherwise, they won't be able to get in.
If you choose to donate, I'm on Venmo: @hughesmuse, PayPal at firstname.lastname@example.org, or a check works, too.
I am looking forward to sharing this new schedule with you!
Can’t wait to see you soon!
Open Figure Drawing -every other Wednesday
Stone Valley Arts will resume figure drawing Wednesday, July 1st. from 6-8 p.m. Upstairs at the Fox Hill location across from Poultney High School. Spacing will be critical so PLEASE PRE-REGISTER by responding to this email—it will help us plan the setup. We are limited to 10 participants. Bring your own materials and wear a mask. Hand sanitizer will be available throughout the building. As usual, participants will share the cost of the model which usually runs $6-$10.
Stone Valley Arts is taking every precaution and has established the following protocols:
1. pre-registration to ensure that there is a total of 10 people or less
2. only people who are free of symptoms of respiratory illness may enter SVA
3. everyone stops at the hand sanitizing station on the way in or washes with soap and water in the bathrooms
4. everyone wears masks
5. everyone stays 6 feet apart
6. host/instructor collects the names and contact info for everyone who comes into SVA (for contact tracing if necessary) but avoid passing around a sign-in sheet as multiple people would be touching it one after another
7. the host/instructor needs to take the VOSHA training and fill out and save the certificate showing they've done that
8. the instructors and board members who attend sanitize all frequently touched surfaces at the end of the evening (doorknobs, light switches, etc., bathrooms included)*
We are looking forward to seeing you again...even at a distance.

Take Her Lead Walk YOUR Way - Fall 2020
Take Her Lead, Walk YOUR Way
A Children's Book Launch
Join us for an evening at Stone Valley Arts for an interactive book walk and art show
Written by Kara Beste, Take Her Lead, walk YOUR way is a picture book biography for all ages that spotlights women from different time periods, ethnicities, religions, vocations, and ages who have changed lives and redefined the word LEADER. The highlighted women have lead by addressing issues important to humanity, civility, and our society in their own unique way. The poetic biographies are strategically written to emphasize how and why these women are leaders. The book emboldens youth, especially young girls, to stay vigilant and address topics they are passionate about even if it is not “popular” or “accepted” by others and to do so in a way that resonates within them. It inspires and educates our youth to take the lead and make change within our society. It helps young girls to see themselves within these women and realize they too can be leaders and do so in a multitude of ways. It also teaches young minds different character traits that a leader embodies.
The artist, Sarah Elworthy, shared the vision for this book and brought it to life through the traditional Indonesian art form, batiking. Batiking is delicate and intricate handiwork involving many processes. It is a skill that has been passed down from grandmothers to mothers to daughters in Indonesia and Africa. Like women, the batik art form is underrepresented in the world and we would like to change that through children’s literature.
Open to all ages
