Art of the Goddess with Cathy Walker and Heidi Smith Bagley
Art of the Goddess: August - November
Participants must pre-register to save a spot for themselves.
The workshop is open to 10 people, including instructors.
Face masks are required inside Stone Valley Arts.
The art of the Goddess is a 4 part workshop created in collaboration by astrologer, shamanic healer, and mindful outdoor guide Cathy Walker and collage artist Heidi Smith Bagley. Join us once a month as we explore the myth and insight of a new Goddess and channel her wisdom into our collage making.
Great for beginners and masters alike, collage is an intuitive and intentional, creative, and often surprising art form. Heidi will introduce us to the tools and materials, and to the flowing technique of creating an intuitive collage. Then using art, archeology, astrology, myth, and storytelling Cathy will introduce us to the Goddess and her prolific territory. She will then lead us through a rich guided meditation where we will meet and experience the Goddess each in our individual ways. We will take that experience into our collage making to discover surprising, sometimes subtle, and always a meaningful message from within. We will end with a time of sharing and reflection for those who desire. We hope you will join us for this enriching time together!
We recommend that you bring a journal. All other materials will be provided, as well as a light refreshment.
Cost per class $25

WHAT LEADS HER, Take Her Lead, Walk YOUR Way
A Children's Book Launch
Join us for at Stone Valley Arts, Saturday, October 3rd from 3:30-5
Written by KaraBeste, WHAT LEADS HER, Take Her Lead, walk YOUR way is a picturebook biography for all ages that spotlights women from different time periods, ethnicities, religions, vocations, and ages who have changed lives and redefined the word LEADER. The highlighted women have lead by addressing issues important to humanity, civility, and our society in their own unique way. The poetic biographies are strategically written to emphasize how and why these women are leaders. The book emboldens youth, especially young girls, to stay vigilant and address topics they are passionate about even if it is not “popular” or “accepted” by others and to do so in a way that resonates within them. It inspires and educates our youth to take the lead and make change within our society. It helps young girls to see themselves within these women and realize they too can be leaders and do so in a multitude of ways. It also teaches young minds different character traits that a leader embodies.
The artist, Sarah Elworthy, shared the vision for this book and brought it to life through the traditional Indonesian art form, batiking. Batiking is delicate and intricate handiwork involving many processes. It is a skill that has been passed down from grandmothers to mothers to daughters in Indonesia and Africa. Like women, the batik art form is underrepresented in the world and we would like to change that through children’s literature.
Open to all ages
