ART AS SOCIAL COMMENTARY

Exit, Richard Weis
Artworks seen as social commentary are sparked by incidents and disruptions in our world that weigh on our souls, wake us in the middle of the night, and demand to be addressed. They are symptoms of broader questions about what it is to be human. As an artist, I sometimes find I cannot move forward in my day unless I put brush to canvas and deal with some of the darker side.
