Stone Valley Arts at Fox Hill is delighted to feature the work of
Artist, Sarah Elworthy and Author, Kara Beste

 2nd Floor Gallery
October 1 - November 22

Book launch with Sarah and Kara on Saturday, Oct. 3, 3:30 - 5:00 pm

An exhibit of original batiks created by Sarah Elworthy and text by Kara Beste  from their book  What Leads Her,
highlighting 23 women who lead in a multitude of ways. The women are from different cultures, races, religions,
socioeconomic backgrounds, professions, and lead through their passions and talents. The word LEAD should
not have to fit into a specific box. This book empowers girls 8 and up to find what leads and inspires them to
change the world. There are so many ways to lead, go ahead, be inspired, and find out what leads you!
This book was brought to life through the traditional Indonesian art form of batik.
It is a skill that has been passed down from grandmothers to mothers to daughters.

Stone Valley Arts has begun a permanent archive of photo documentation of multidisciplinary  cultural events produced
or supported by Stone Valley Arts since the organization's inception. This photo archive will be on exhibit on the 2nd floor landing library gallery. Our inaugural exhibit is a collection of photography by George Bouret of dance performances created by Vital Spark North Performance Group and made possible through Stone Valley Arts,  DanceFest Vermont,  Vermont Dance Alliance, Green Mountain College, Castleton University,  Spruce Peak Performing Arts Center and funded by the Vermont Community Foundation.

ART AS SOCIAL COMMENTARY

Picture

Exit, Richard Weis
Artworks seen as social commentary are sparked by incidents and disruptions in our world that weigh on our souls, wake us in the middle of the night, and demand to be addressed. They are symptoms of broader questions about what it is to be human. As an artist, I sometimes find I cannot move forward in my day unless I put brush to canvas and deal with some of the darker side.  Richard D. Weis,  July 2020

HANDSTITCHED PICTORIAL QUILTS

Picture

Nancy Weis

"Nancy’s hand-stitched pictorial quilts were packed away for our move to Vermont in 1989 and this is the first time they have been out since we moved here."

Come see the full exhibit Now through September 27th. Nancy's quilts are in the upstairs library and Richard's paintings are in the upstairs Ballroom Gallery.
