Instructor : Becca Harrington
Dancing the Divine Within
Humans have always expressed themselves through dance whether doing the boogie-woogie or gathering around a sacred fire. Movement allows our bodies to release stress and anxiety filling us with energy and joy as endorphins flood our entire being. This class will utilize elements of traditional southern Italian shamanic dance practices which can be as simple as moving your body to the music in whatever way feels good to you—no prior dance experience or training is necessary.
Becca started along the path of a healer in her early twenties because of her deep respect for the Earth and all of its inhabitants. She became a Reiki Master Teacher mentoring students in the activation of the natural healing art of the body. Becca graduated from Dove Star Holistic Institute in 2001 with a degree in massage therapy followed by an in depth study with the Upledger Institute International to become a CranioSacral therapist in 2003. As an herbalist, who apprenticed under the guidance of Rosemary Gladstar, Becca has a genuine love for all the beauty and healing potential that the plant kingdom graciously offers us. She has spent more than two decades training in the shamanic practices of the traditional peoples of the Andes mountains and jungles of Peru and Ecuador. She is currently under the tutelage of the Magia, her shamanic matrineal lineage of Southern Italy.

Community clowning (no experience necessary)
Instructor : Lauryn Axelrod
$18 adult/$12 student
Share laughter and joy with your friends and neighbors as a Community Clown. In this workshop, you will learn the basics of European-style clown - harmony/disharmony, balance/imbalance, acceptance, the "flop," saying "Yes" to the "game," and playful curiosity. No juggling, no balloon-tying, no acrobatics, no "scary" clowns, and no previous experience necessary. Just bring your sense of humor, open heart, willingness to try, and an instrument (if you play one). Open to clowns of all ages. Pieces from this workshop might be incorporated into a community performance as part of PLATFORM on October 12.
Instructor: Lauryn Axelrod is a community-based artist and clown ("Olivia Twist"), who performs around the world, both theatrically and as a humanitarian clown in hospitals, rehab centers, refugee camps and orphanages. Originally trained as a dancer, Lauryn began clowning as a theatre major at Bennington College. She then studied at the Dell'Arte School for Physical Theatre with Ronlin Forman and Joan Schirle, and with Eric de Bont in Spain. She can be found with her nose on at any number of community events, bringing laughter and fun wherever she can.
