ICE lands in Vermont… !
In 2017 I was a participating artist in the International Collage Exchange, “ICE” organized by Dale Copeland in Taranki, New Zealand. While in the process, I found Dale’s invitation to art venues around the world seeking to host the 20th annual ICE exhibit. I wrote Dale, inquiring about the possibility for Stone Valley Arts in Poultney, VT. as the next destination for ICE show. I was surprised and delighted to find out that Stone Valley Arts had been accepted! This 20th annual ICE exhibit features 76 artists from around the globe, the U.S. and Canada. The show is a visual feast, chock full of compelling imagery skillfully crafted with found papers, ephemera and objects, painting, drawing and digital pictures. The artists explore the surreal, the sublime, the humorous, the nostalgic and cerebral and several artists have written their personal stories on the back of their collage. These stories add perspective, emotion and understanding to their art work.
Beyond the sheer thrill of hosting ICE in our main gallery from Oct. 4 to Nov. 3, this exhibition can be seen as the start of a unique new program for Stone Valley Arts
as we develop a branch of programming to promote Collage as a relevant Art Form
and explorative creative experience. SVA looks forward to hosting annual collage shows in the future and offering educational workshops and forums as the Collage Center of Vermont.
